I have a qualification in Countryside Management, specialising in woodlands and there is a strong element of that in the cards. I used to like taking people on guided walks, looking at our local history but I especially love telling people about the myths and magic about plants and trees, birds and butterflies, mammals and fish that populate our wonderful countryside. I also have a fascination and a limited learning about Iron age Britain so these cards speak to me on the natural world level and the historical level.
I like to pair these cards with the oracle decks designed by Will Worthington, The Druid Animal oracle, The Druid Plant oracle and Green Man Tree Oracle, in particular, for the past, present, future spreads, as they each have their own line but can be read two ways in the spread. The artwork on all four decks are in the same style and I connect with all the decks.
I haven't really read the books that go along with the cards. This isn't to devalue the carefully thought out writing but I feel that the images speak louder than the words, especially this artist and the style of these cards.
In the following blog series, I pull one card from the Tarot deck a day and write about it.
