Maybe I'll do a series of blog posts about what I can find out about my ancestors. I also want to do a series of blog posts with locations for my novels but I won't be giving any spoilers! Watch this space!
I am really looking forward to reading this new book by Barbara Erskine. It is released on Thursday 15th April 2021 and I have had my Mother's day gift of a book voucher, ready and waiting for it. I can't use the voucher to pre order it though so I will have to do so first thing on Thursday morning. I recently watched a webinair hosted by the publishers where they talked with Barbara. I guess promoting and book tours have to be done virtually for the foreseeable future. It was really interesting listening to Barbara and hearing how she researches and develops her characters. It has inspired me to put together my own novels into something other than the slightly jumbled filing system in my head. The Dream Weavers is set in the century before the Saxon Chronicles, on the borders between Wales and England, where quite a few of Barbara's books are set. I like the way Barbara blends a modern contemporary story with a historical character. I have also been inspired to research my own family tree to try to unearth a few skeletons but I haven't found any yet. Most of my ancestors have led quite unspectacular lives! I can say I am not descended from royalty or even anyone remotely famous. I will hopefully write a review when I have read it but it will have to wait until I have finished the Saxon Chronicles series by Bernard Cornwell.
