On the staircase, on a small shelf across the stairs at the top was a couple of ornaments and an old bible. Th hostess told me that if the bible was removed from the house, screams could be heard all night until it is returned. I didn't want to find out if that was true.
On the tour of the upstairs, in an empty room, I felt very sad and close to tears. I saw a man with dark hair sitting on the floor in the middle of the room, sobbing and rocking back and forwards. Mum didn't see this man. It was very upsetting and I couldn't do anything to help him. I didn't say anything to the hostess or Mum until much later in the day.
The hostess made us all cups of tea and I was browsing her bookshelves. There was a very interesting book about Stonehenge, which she kindly gave me. I still have the book.
In a quiet moment, I told Mum about the man in the bedroom and the hostess overheard. She told me and Mum that the room I had seen him in was the room her adult son had died. I was quite upset to be reminding the hostess of a challenging and upsetting time in her life, but she was quite ok with it. I wish I had had something positive to tell her from her son and husband.
The hostess has now passed away as has my Mum, so I can't ask her where her friend lived.
We also went to West Kennet Long barrow, Silbury Hill and Avebury stone circle that weekend. I didn't see any other ghosts.
